Guisborough Community Heritage Group is a volunteer-led group with an interest in the local history, landscape and shared stories of Guisborough and the surrounding woodland.
We bring together people who care about understanding and celebrating the area’s heritage — from historic routes, buildings and industrial pasts, to the everyday places and memories that have shaped the community.
Our work includes:
- researching local history and heritage features
- creating walking routes and trail information
- working with partner organisations on interpretation and signage
- gathering and sharing local knowledge, memories and stories
We aim to make local heritage accessible, welcoming and relevant, whether you are a long-time resident, a visitor, or simply curious about the place you are walking through.
The group works collaboratively with local partners and land managers, including Forestry England, and all activities are carried out with care for the landscape and for the people who use it.
Who we are for
The group is open to anyone with an interest in:
- local history and heritage
- walking routes and landscapes
- research and storytelling
- caring for and understanding our shared environment
You don’t need specialist knowledge — just curiosity and respect for the place.
