Guisborough Community Heritage Group
Exploring the stories, routes and landscapes that shape our local area.
Guisborough Community Heritage Group is a volunteer-led group with an interest in the history, heritage and shared stories of Guisborough and the surrounding woodland.
We work to research, record and share the heritage of the area through walking routes, interpretation and community-led projects, helping people connect more deeply with the places they pass through every day.
Much of the landscape we explore, document and share sits within woodland managed by Forestry England. Their stewardship of these woods forms an important part of the story we tell
Walking Routes
One of our first project, in conjunction with Forestry England, is the Purple Route — a heritage and accessibility trail linking key places, historic features and stories around the woodland, Pinchinthorpe Branch Walk Way and the Visitor Centre.
Our walking routes are designed to be:
- easy to follow
- informative without being overwhelming
- suitable for visitors, families and local walkers
You can view our routes and Maps on the Walking Routes page.
